87th Academy Awards Predictions

The Academy Awards nomination announcements didn’t ultimately reveal much that we didn’t already know about the Oscar nominations. American Sniper has been coming on strong while Selma has been sliding away but still has a part in the race (it did receive a Best Picture nomination and there is certainly enough support to come for the film in the coming weeks to be more of a contender than a pretender among the Best Picture nominees). To me this is still a race between Boyhood and The Imitation Game as it was before the nominations were announced. Birdman missing out on Best Film Editing all but kills any chance it had of winning the big prize although it will certainly contend in many other categories.
